Kindergarten

Follows the Common Core Curriculum. Islam is integrated into all subjects. Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, Arabic grammar, Islamic Studies, Quran, Social Studies and Art are part of the curriculum. At the Kindergarten level, focus will be put on the command of phonics, rudimentary writing skills, and developing fine motor skills. Emphasis will be put on creativity and developing leadership qualities.

SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR WORK IN THE CLASSROOM

Reading and Writing
Students will:
– Identify uppercase and lowercase letters
– Phonics comprehension (beginning, middle and ending sound)
– Read and write sight words and word families
– Read stories
– Sequence of stories
– Write sentences

Math
– Shapes; Compare and sort Objects; Use numbers 0 to 30; Describe position and patterns; Construct and use graphs; Compare measurements; Use time; Describe geometric figures
– Addition and subtraction; Counting by 2’s, 5’s, & 10’s; Use coins (1, 5, 10, and 25 cents)

Science
– 5 senses; Weather and seasons; 5 groups of animals (mammals, reptiles, amphibian, fish and birds); Butterflies; Plants; Dinosaurs & Farm Animals

Social Studies
– Being a good citizen; Community workers; Famous leaders; Our Country & Holidays

Islamic Studies
– Allah (swt); 5 pillars of Islam; Al-Quran; Prophet Muhammad (saw); Prophets of Quran; & Holidays

Quran
– Students will memorize these surahs Al-Fatiha & Quraysh to Al-Zalzala

Arabic
– Identify Arabic letters with harakat in the first, middle, end of sentences & Read the Arabic letters properly
– Distinguish between similar letters (ex. Differences between baa and taa) & Read simple sentences from the book
– Describe colors in Arabic & State his/her body parts in Arabic
